The World and its 'Stuff'
October 27, 2008
Typically, the process of making, acquiring and disposing of the world's 'stuff' is just so:Raw materials are manufactured into products that are then distributed, purchased, used and disposed of. This leads to a couple of key points to be made:
1) Our Earth is not a never-ending supply of raw materials. Recycling is a means of slowing the decline of raw materials used to construct our collective 'stuff'.
2) Disposal of our 'stuff' leads to negative environmental issues.
As more and more focus is placed on developing our green economy and implementing green practices to diminish, if not reverse, the detrimental effects on the ecosystem, companies such as eLot Recycling are not only raising awareness, but doing something tangible about it.
As technological gadgets, big and small, are more prevalent and easier to accumulate, the process of disposing of that 'stuff' can be a major issue in a world going green. While 2007 saw roughly 70 million computers sold, to what end is the waste production created by disposal being addressed?
Many personal computers are being stored for future disposal just as many computers and related equipment are currently being stored by organizations, businesses, corporations and agencies for the same reason. The destruction, discarding and disposal practices are all contributing factors affecting our only environment due to the toxicity of the various components that comprise consumer electronics. eLot Recycling Inc., as a full-service recycling company, focuses on the recycling, de-manufacturing, and refurbishing of computers and electronics.
